Gratitude the gateway | week one

Sermons

November 5, 2017

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”
-Philippians 4.6,7 MSG

This Sunday, Brian kicks off our new series on GRATITUDE. Don’t miss it.

Heart of Worship the wrap up | week seven

Sermons

October 29, 2017

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life – and place it before God as an offering.”
-Romans 12.1 MSG

Over the last several weeks, we’ve discussed the idea that worship is our gift of participation in the LIFE of the Father, Son, and Spirit. We’ve discussed how this tangibly relates to many aspects of our daily lives and what it looks like to live this out in relevant ways. But, we still have questions…

Don’t miss this Sunday, as Kevan, Jamie, Brian, and Mandy participate in a panel discussion answering real questions generated by real folks within the DCC family. Don’t miss this final segment in our heart of worship series, The Wrap Up.

The Word & Prayer heart of worship | week six

Sermons

October 22, 2017

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.”
-John 4.23 NKJV

If worship is our gift of participating in the LIFE of the Father, Son, and Spirit, then what does worship look as it relates to “spiritual disciplines” like the study of scripture and prayer?

Don’t miss this Sunday, as Chad takes us through the sixth segment in our heart of worship series, The Word & Prayer.

The Heart of Worship | week five Worship at the Table

Sermons

October 15, 2017

“They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer… Day by day continuing with one mind…breaking bread together house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God… (Acts 2.42,46 NASB)”

Don’t miss this special gathering “picnic audio” from the Caledonia Lakeside Park, as we continue our series, The Heart of Worship, with the fifth segment, WORSHIP AT THE TABLE.

The Heart of Worship | week four Worship through Giving

Sermons

October 8, 2017

“Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9.7 NASB).”

If worship is our gift of participating in the LIFE of the Father, Son, and Spirit, then what does worship look as it relates to the subject of giving? This conversation can get somewhat tricky due to the diversity of opinions, excesses and abuses in the Church historically and even today. And yet, DCC has always been vocal about cultivating a culture of generosity in giving. Consistent, intentional, and generous giving is so core to the heart of DCC that we would be remiss not to discuss this in the greater conversation of worship – especially given that the offering of gifts of value has been seen throughout the generations as an opportunity to worship God.

Don’t miss this Sunday, as Kevan takes us through the fourth segment in our series, The Heart of Worship… WORSHIP THROUGH GIVING.

The Heart of Worship | week three Worship through Vocation

Sermons

October 1, 2017

Worship is not a perfunctory duty. It is not obligatory in nature. In fact, worship in any vehicle is always…
Responsive
Relational
Transformational
If worship is our gift of participating in the life of the Father, Son, and Spirit, then does worship look like outside of the Sunday morning Church environment? What would it be like to “worship” on Monday morning in a staff meeting, or on Thursday at school?

Don’t miss this Sunday, as Kevan takes us through the third segment in our series, The Heart of Worship… WORSHIP THROUGH VOCATION.

The Heart of Worship | week two Worship through Music

Sermons

September 24, 2017

“Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants. Don’t drink too much wine. That cheapens your life. Drink the Spirit of God, huge draughts of him. Sing hymns instead of drinking songs! Sing songs from your heart to Christ. Sing praises over everything, any excuse for a song to God the Father in the name of our Master, Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5.17-20 MSG).”

In week one, we discussed the fact that worship is the basic Christian posture. This week, we’ll discuss the idea that music is one of the ways in which we express worship, or our participation in the life of the Father, Son and Spirit.

Don’t miss this Sunday, as Brian takes us through the second segment in our series, The Heart of Worship… WORSHIP THROUGH MUSIC.

The Heart of Worship | week one Introduction and Definitions

Sermons

September 17, 2017

Worship. It’s what you were made for. But, what do we really mean when we use the word “worship” and how does the practice of it shape our lives? Is worship simply a collection of catchy lyrics and ethereal guitar parts or a 20-minute segment at the beginning of a church gathering? Perhaps… worship is much, much more.

Over the next 7 weeks, we will be delving deeper into the subject of worship, what it is, what it looks like to practice a lifestyle of worship, and more. Brian will be kicking the series off this week with INTRODUCTIONS AND DEFINITIONS. We hope you’ll join us!

The Put On | Leon DeHaan September 10, 2017

Sermons

“But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him.”
Colossians 3.8-10 NASB

We’re honored once again to have Leon DeHaan with us, teaching on putting off the old man and putting on the NEW; (1) what it means, (2) how we do it, (3) the process of renewal, and (4) the goal toward which we are being renewed. Leon is a pastor of pastors, a seasoned Bible teacher and is always a blessing.
